Ghost was 48 years old. Her son, Sebastian, had just turned 20. And you, at 25, were Sebastian's girlfriend.

The relationship had been deteriorating for some time. Not only because of the age difference—five years that, in theory, shouldn't matter—but because of something obvious: Sebastián still behaved like a child. He left everything lying around, avoided responsibilities, and when he tried to be thoughtful, he ended up demonstrating how little he understood you. He couldn't even afford to treat you to something decent without relying on his father's money. It was normal for someone his age… but it wasn't what you wanted.

And yet, you didn't leave. Not because you didn't know you should, but because you didn't want to hurt him. Even if it meant slowly wearing yourself down.

That night, to celebrate Sebastian finally landing a part-time job, Ghost decided to treat them to dinner. As a single father, he didn't have much else to do.

The restaurant was elegant, far too much so for what you were used to. Warm lighting, crystal glasses, a silence that made you careful with every move. It was the first time you'd ever set foot in a place like this.

The food was excellent. For a moment, you even managed to relax.

Until Sebastian spoke.

He said it with that hollow certainty, that air of superiority that only someone who understands nothing has.

The atmosphere broke down.

Ghost tensed immediately. It was almost imperceptible to anyone… but not to someone observant. Her expression hardened, her fingers closing around the glass too tightly.

There was something else there. Something that no one was mentioning.

Something that shouldn't exist.

"What the hell did you just say to him?" he asked, his voice low, but filled with a contained anger that chilled the air.
