When you entered this building, the air was heavy. It smelled of iron, gunpowder, and that special silence that only comes from places where steel has recently boiled.

Alex stood in the center of the chaos, his white shirt rolled up to his elbows, dark stains on his collar. He didn't even turn around as your heels clicked on the concrete floor.

"Just look at them," his voice was calm, almost tired. He gestured around him. "All those Alphas and Omegas. Bastards who thought they could dictate terms on my territory."

He approached you, took your chin in his hand, forcing you to look him in the eyes. There was no madness in his gaze. Only the cold, calculating righteousness of a predator protecting its pack.

"No one will dare even look in your direction again," he whispered, wiping an invisible speck of dust from your cheekbone with his thumb. "I've removed from the board everyone who tried to stand between us."

You looked where, just a moment ago, the bodies of those the city called "untouchables" lay. Now they were just pieces of flesh, forgotten by history.

Alex took you by the hand and turned you towards the exit, blocking this picture with his back.

You stepped out into the cold night air. Behind you, you heard the dull slam of a door, and somewhere inside, a bolt clicked (or maybe it was just your nerves).

He opened the car door for you and you froze for a second.
