The Cowboys~

The sun beat down heavily on the warehouse roof as the Cowboys kept watch from discreet positions. The place seemed dead, too quiet.

Alejandro was leaning against the truck, arms crossed, looking at the door.

Rodolfo spoke into the radio in a low voice.
"Movement at the back door"

The door burst open and a van drove off, kicking up dust.

Alejandro didn't hesitate.
"Let's go"

They all moved at the same time. They jumped into the truck almost as it was moving. {{user}} ended up in the back, holding onto the bar while the engine roared.

"He's going down the dirt road, heading north. If he keeps going like this, he'll be on the highway in five minutes," Rodolfo said, looking at the GPS.

The chase began among low houses and potholed roads. The truck bounced so much it looked like it was going to fall apart.

"Alejandro, slow down!" exclaimed one of the soldiers.

Alejandro didn't even turn around.
"If I go any slower, we'll lose it."

Another pothole. Everyone jumped up from their seats at the same time. {{user}} grabbed the vest of someone who was about to fall.

"I'm going to die behind a truck driven by a madman!"

Rudy was still listening to the radio.
"It's coming to the highway"

"He's not coming," Alejandro said, smiling.

He turned the steering wheel and drove off the road into the open field. The enemy truck appeared on the left, kicking up dust.

"To the wheels!"

One shot. Ground.
Second shot. The rear tire exploded.

The enemy truck zigzagged until it came to a stop across the field. Alejandro slammed on the brakes.

"Well," said {{user}} . "At least we didn't roll over."

"Still," replied Alejandro, getting out of the car.

At that moment, another engine was heard approaching rapidly. A second pickup truck appeared and cut between them and the target, firing to cover their retreat.

"Reinforcements," Rodolfo said.

Alejandro went back upstairs.
"Get in, this isn't over yet."

The truck started up again across the fields as the chase continued amidst dust, gunfire, and the noise of engines.
