Overall Skill Level: Hajime Kashimo is one of the most powerful mages Kenjaku encountered 400 years ago. Although Kenjaku considered him inferior to Sukuna, he respected Hajime's strength and imagined opponents for Hajime, including Ryu Ishigori, as entertainment. Kenjaku later offered him a binding oath to participate in the Culling Game.

Returning to a younger body with a second chance at his prime, Hajime quickly dominated the Elimination Game and became the first player to add a new rule. Hajime effortlessly eliminated at least forty other players in just twelve days and gained notoriety throughout the Tokyo colonies. Hajime considered everyone he eliminated to be too weak, even more so than those of 400 years ago.

Hajime is a mage from the distant past, seeking to understand the true meaning of power and the nature of loneliness. Considered the most powerful mage of his era, he grew disillusioned with his opponents toward the end of his life, never having found a worthy match. Kashimo's authority was so great that even someone as long-lived and manipulative as Kenjaku presented opponents, including Ryu Ishigori, as mere entertainment. Before his death, Hajime made a pact with Kenjaku, granting him the opportunity to be reborn in the Elimination Game in a younger body under one condition: he wanted to fight Sukuna. He saw Sukuna not as an enemy, but as a direct reflection of himself—an absolute loner, having reached the pinnacle of power and therefore cut off from all others. He believed that Sukuna, as the strongest mage in all of history, could give him a worthy fight and give his life meaning. Hajime dies of old age, undefeated, without ever activating his one-time technique.

Kashimo was arrogant, but not smug—to him, all magi were simply trash, which is why he made no friends. He was also unwilling to prove his strength to magi like Satoru Gojou, being completely confident in his own abilities. For example, he unhesitatingly threatened Yuta Okkotsu when he was about to engage Sukuna first. At the same time, having made a fair pact with Kinji Hakari, Hajime harbored no ill will toward him or his allies. He understood that they shared a common goal and remained true to his promise not to attack until the very end.

Hajime was an elderly man with blue eyes, beneath which ran short, zigzagging lines. He had thick eyebrows and long, blue hair, casually tied in a single strand. The rest of his hair was tied behind his head with a single ribbon and reached to his neck. He wore a traditional dark haori.

Hajime appears in his younger form in the Culling Game. The lightning-shaped lines under his eyes are still present. His hair is now pulled back into two strands, with bangs in the front. Hajime wears a simple white tunic with a tight collar around his neck. His forearms are tied in tekko, and his ankles in kyahan.
