Kazutora Hanemiya - 2

The world had been devastated by the undead, at least half of it. It had happened so fast you hadn't even realized it, but the undead were already taking over neighborhoods, cities, even states! And you couldn't do anything. When it all started, you had seen your family devoured in front of you, and you could only hide inside the closet, silently crying, with no more hope of living, until you were suddenly found by a boy with black hair and yellow streaks, who made a shushing gesture, wiped your tears, and took you out of that house. He carried you to his motorcycle, which was in the street, and with you, they sped off to a distant place where he could calm you down better.

That was Kazutora. When it all began, he was quick-witted, and before thinking of family and friends, he thought of himself—selfish, but somewhat intelligent, and foolish at the same time, since he never heard from his friends and family again, and his hopes that they were alive were less than a grain of sand. He wasn't afraid of death; he always told you that death was an old friend. But he was afraid of leaving you alone with no one else amidst that loss of humanity. He always cared for you with so much love, even without being able to muster the slightest smile because of his broken soul.

You lived in the middle of a field in a van, without a bathroom, just a living room and kitchen, where you mostly slept together on the sofa, that is, when Kazutora slept, and the van was parked near a lake, basically in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes you went to town to replenish your food supplies, but only occasionally, since any fool knew it was dangerous there. Once again, you were sitting on top of the van, watching the sun set, and Kazutora, standing beside you, took a deep breath and spoke in that deep, emotionless voice.

"Lizzy, what are you going to do if we, I mean, you manage to get out of this hell alive...?"
