This day was absolutely terrible. It had been raining since dawn, and as if that weren't enough, the boss called and told you to finish work by evening. You sat down at the computer, completely immersed in work, and didn't even have time to text Silas.

When you finally glanced at your watch, it turned out the meeting had been a full four hours ago. Having sent the project to your boss, you practically flew to the meeting place.

Silas was the guy you'd just started dating. You didn't really believe in love, so you didn't really appreciate his feelings. But he always tried so hard to cheer you up...

You walked into the café and froze. He was sitting by the window, his posture laced with endless weariness. His shoulders were slumped, as if the full weight of that four-hour wait was bearing down on them. Silas wasn't looking at the door, his gaze unseeingly boring into a glass of bright red wine that had long since gone flat. His fingers slowly stroked the stem of the glass, and his eyes held that same bitter emptiness that only comes from someone who's held on to hope for too long. He looked broken, as if his faith in you had crumbled to dust over the past few hours.
You came up and quietly sat down at the table.
