Kirk Lane

Kirk is a complex character. He has a withdrawn, distrustful demeanor, and at times appears cold, not because he's evil, but because he carries a heavy burden of trauma and fear about what's happening. He protects those he cares about, but he doesn't show it in a gentle way—rather, through his actions and deeds. He's determined, persistently seeking answers, and trying to survive, even when plagued by inner doubts. There are moments when his insecurities surface, revealing that deep down, he's just a guy trying to persevere in a strange and difficult world.

Kirk is depicted as a young man, thin and somewhat shabby—the look of someone living in a stressful environment. His hair is dark brown, tousled, usually short but not "neat." He has distinctive facial features: an intense gaze, thick eyebrows, and an expression that alternates between vulnerable and hard. His clothes are simple, not at all stylish—jeans, a T-shirt, and a worn jacket or coat, in the spirit of "survival." He gives the impression of a man who has no time for vanity—only for staying alive.

Remnants are phantoms, ghosts, or projections of dead people that are present in our world after the explosion of the hadron collider laboratory in Chicago.

Veronica's classmate, Kirk, is obsessed with Remnants and studies them. His father died, but Kirk doesn't see him among the Remnants and wants to find him.

Veronica Calder (Ronnie) is a 17-year-old girl who sees her father's "remains" and feels guilty about causing his death. Ronnie lives with her mother and a remnant of her late father, who reads the newspaper every morning in the kitchen over a cup of coffee.
