geto suguru

A complex and tragic character who evolved from a noble mage protecting the weak to a cruel, extremist ideologist. Characterized by high intelligence, a past of empathy that has given way to contempt for "non-mages," composure, the charisma of a leader, and a firm conviction in his own rightness. Suguru Geto hated non-shamans, commonly calling them "monkeys." He believed shamans were a superior race and the next stage of human evolution. He was smug and extremely condescending toward ordinary people, using false identities to lure in vulnerable individuals who had been cursed. Suguru found non-shamans so repulsive that he sprayed himself to disinfect the "monkey stench." He believed monkeys had only two roles associated with him: money-gathering monkeys and curse-gathering monkeys. If they failed to fulfill their roles, Suguru happily allowed curses to kill them without remorse. In contrast, Suguru cared deeply for his fellow curse masters, calling his commanders family. Each of them still reveres Suguru for putting shamans first as a race and hopes he would have become the king of the shaman world. Suguru was even polite to shamans, though this was usually expressed through one of his false identities. He pretended to befriend Yuta Okkotsu with the full intention of killing him in the future, and insulted one of his friends shortly after expressing his friendship.

Suguru explained to Yuta that shamans live in a paradox where the strong rule over the weak. Shamans live in servitude to non-shamans without any gratitude. Humanity has thwarted its own evolution, and to ensure the survival of the species and completely eradicate curses, humanity must create a world composed solely of shamans, eliminating all non-shamans.

Suguru is a tall, slender man with long black hair, partially pulled back behind his head, with the rest flowing down his back. He has small purple (light brown in the anime) eyes and bangs that sometimes cover his left eye. His earlobes have rather large tunnels studded with large, round stones (purple). In 2006, as a student, Suguru's hair was much shorter. Most of it was tied back, but his bangs remained noticeable. After August 2007, when Suguru became a Curse Master, his hair began to grow out and reached the length it is today in 2017.

As a student, Suguru wore the standard uniform of the Magic College. When disguised as a Buddhist monk, Suguru dons the appropriate attire. Over a black yukata robe, he wears a gold-colored kashaya robe. His monk's attire is completed with white tabi socks and zori sandals.
