Hiccup has grown considerably. Once considered the smallest, he's now the tallest of the teenagers at 6'1" (1.85 m). His hair is a bit shorter, somewhat messy and unkempt, with two small braids behind his right ear. If you look closely, you can see that he's grown a bit of a beard. The color of his eyes even seems to have lightened, along with his confidence. He appears to have gained a stronger physique compared to the first film. His prosthetic leg is also different, being more mechanical than before, making it "a Swiss Army knife of prosthetics" (he lost a foot in a battle with a dragon at age 15, so he now uses a prosthetic). Hiccup seems to have improved its capabilities and function, just as he stated he would in the first film.

His attire now consists of a basic green tunic, tanned leather pants, and leather armor plates on his shoulders and upper chest, along with arm braces that make him more aerodynamic in the air, like Toothless. When flying, he is also seen wearing a spiked helmet and matching mask that protects his face and head. His armor also functions as a flight suit, allowing him to glide through the air alongside Toothless. He also carries a weapon, a retractable fire sword called Inferno.

Toothless is a dragon, of the Night Fury race, a strong and imposing species, which is almost extinct.

Toothless is a dragon that is neither enormous nor small, but it is somewhat large; its scales are a beautiful shade of black, perfect for hiding in the night sky, and its eyes are green, like two beautiful and bright emeralds.

The reason for his name is that Hiccup, upon meeting him, believed he had no teeth, since Toothless has the ability to appear and hide his teeth, which is why Hiccup gave him that name.

Toothless, like his best friend Hiccup, has a prosthesis; while Hiccup has it on his right leg, Toothless has it on the right side of his tail, which initially prevented him from flying, until Hiccup designed a prosthesis so that, with his help, Toothless could fly.

Dragon Training and Riding: Hiccup discovers his dragon-riding skills during the first movie and becomes the island's top dragon trainer. His dragon, Toothless, the Night Fury, is the rarest and fastest at the Berk Dragon Training Academy. Hiccup openly claims to be the best dragon rider in the episode "The Thaw Party." He and Toothless clearly have the strongest bond of all the riders and their dragons in the series.

Dragon roar: Hiccup can emit a roar similar to Toothless's, so that Toothless can easily find Hiccup.

Leadership: Although he's not particularly keen on leading a large group, Hiccup is a natural leader. Most of the time, the other riders follow his orders without question.

Drawing: Even before Hiccup began training dragons, he was often seen sketching his inventions. He always carried his sketchbook and a thick charcoal pencil. His sketches were usually quick and somewhat messy, but compared to most Vikings, he was quite good. He started drawing Toothless during their second encounter. He used his sketchbook to copy the map of Night Island in a matter of seconds (unfortunately). He used his artistic talent to plan and invent. Soon, the walls of his room were covered with drawings of Toothless.

Invention: Hiccup learned a great deal about craftsmanship from Gobber. His many years of apprenticeship certainly paid off. He has created many ingenious devices throughout the franchise. He is skilled at blacksmithing (despite his small size) and excellent at leatherworking. Originally, his devices were weapons, and the Mangler Cannon he designed allowed him to defeat Toothless. After training Toothless, he changed his mind and began working on a new tail fin for him. This fin has been modified many times and is a work of pure genius.

Intelligence: This talent is fundamental to all of Hiccup's other abilities. His intelligence is demonstrated on numerous occasions throughout the film and the series. He is almost always the one who finds the solutions to the problems the Riders face. He is shown to be very astute, resourceful, and perceptive, and possesses a great aptitude for strategy and tactics. He is also quite cultured. Unlike Snotlout, who learns by reading, Hiccup also learns from his experiences.

Strength and fighting skills: Due to Hiccup's initial size, he isn't a great fighter in the first film. In fact, most weapons are too heavy for him, and he struggles to lift them. After joining the Horsemen, Hiccup usually fights alongside Toothless. His fighting style is more focused on defense; he wields his dragon sword, Inferno, with great precision and skill, such as when he frees Stormfly or prevents Drago from using his grappling hook. He was also shown to have become a skilled and accurate archer by this time, alongside the other Horsemen. On several occasions, Hiccup has been seen fighting while simultaneously wielding Inferno and his shield.

Accuracy: Like Toothless, Hiccup has amazing aim, as seen when he managed to knock him down in the first movie, and in "Appetite for Destruction" when he hit a Deadly Nadder in the chest with his shield while it was flying. He also managed to throw Inferno with enough accuracy for it to land right in front of Drago's hand, just as Drago reached out to grab his grappling hook and control his Bewilderbeast.

Persuasion: Hiccup is known for his great persuasive ability (Astrid herself affirms this), as he has convinced his father, the teenagers, the entire town of Berk, Dagur, Alvin, and even Eret to observe the dragons closely and admire their beauty.

Prosthetic Leg: Hiccup's prosthetic leg has its advantages. Besides using it for walking, he can use it as a weapon.

Hiccup, now 20 years old, is the tenacious and energetic son of Stoick the Vast, chief of Berk. No longer a dwarf, but still tall and slender compared to others, Hiccup is the island's ace pilot and dragon expert. Celebrated as a local hero for ushering in an era of peace between Vikings and dragons, Hiccup now prefers to spend his time exploring uncharted lands and discovering new dragons with the help of his loyal Night Fury, Toothless. However, Stoick's plan to pass the mantle of chieftain to his son causes Hiccup to flee in the opposite direction, fearing he will become like his father and lose his identity. But as the call of adventure pulls him into uncharted territory, his quest for identity will find answers in ways he never imagined.
