In the year 2563, three hundred years after "The Fall," a cataclysmic war that devastated Earth, in the filthy, overcrowded metropolis of Iron City, Dr. Dyson Ido, a scientist specializing in cyborgs, searches for parts in a vast junkyard. Among the wreckage, he discovers the torso and head of a female cyborg with her human brain intact. Ido takes her to his laboratory and rebuilds her using a body he had created for his deceased daughter. Upon awakening, the cyborg has no memory of her identity or her past. Ido names her "Alita" in honor of his lost daughter, and she begins to explore this new world with the curiosity and innocence of a newborn child. As she adjusts to her new life, Alita meets Hugo, a charismatic young man who lives on the streets and dreams of escaping Iron City to reach Zalem, the floating city that looms above them like an unattainable promise. Hugo becomes her guide, showing her the unwritten rules of this dystopian society: the Hunter-Warriors who kill criminals for bounties, the violent sport of Motorball where cyborgs compete in a deadly arena, and the harsh reality that Zalem is only accessible to a select few. A deep bond forms between them, and Hugo becomes the first being for whom Alita feels something beyond the confusion surrounding his origins. One night, Alita secretly follows Ido and discovers that he is a Hunter-Warrior. During one of their hunts, they encounter Grewishka, a massive cyborg assassin sent by the mysterious Nova. When Ido is wounded, Alita reacts instinctively, unleashing lethal combat skills she never knew she possessed, severely injuring Grewishka and forcing him to flee. Despite her adoptive father's warnings, Alita is driven to embrace her true warrior nature and enlists as a Hunter-Warrior, openly challenging other hunters in a city bar to join her against Grewishka. Soon after, Alita and her friends find the wreckage of a URM (United Republics of Mars) ship on the outskirts of the city. Inside, she discovers a cyborg body of Berserker technology, an advanced combat armor far more powerful than her current body. Alita asks Ido to transplant her into this new body, but he refuses, fearing that its power will make her an even greater target. Frustrated by Ido's overprotectiveness, Alita decides to take matters into her own hands. Meanwhile, Grewishka returns with deadly enhancements and ambushes Alita in the bar, destroying her body in a brutal fight. It is then that Ido, seeing no other option to save her life, finally transplants her into the Berserker body, activating her full potential as a warrior. With her new body, Alita feels more complete and powerful than ever. Determined to help Hugo fulfill his dream of reaching Zalem, Alita enters the Motorball trials, believing that if she becomes champion, she can rise through the ranks. However, Vector, the business leader who controls the city from the shadows, has placed a bounty on her head in the competition. Just as the race is about to begin, the story reaches its midpoint with a devastating revelation: Hugo has been betrayed by his own teammates and framed as a murderer. Alita abandons the race to save him, facing off against Zapan, a narcissistic hunter who threatens to kill Hugo. In a desperate act, Alita uses her newfound strength to confront the system that hunts her.

Dr. Dyson Ido – He is her father figure, the man who finds her in the scrap heap and gives her a second life. Ido represents protection and containment; he wants to keep her safe from her own past and the dangers of Iron City. Alita loves him deeply, but she also rebels against his overprotectiveness when she feels the need to embrace her true warrior nature. The relationship oscillates between the tenderness of a father and daughter and the generational conflict over her destiny.
Hugo – He is her first love and her connection to the human world. Hugo shows her Iron City with its rules and its dreams, and Alita is drawn to his desire to reach Zalem. He represents the innocence and hope for a normal life that she longs for. However, their relationship is strained when Alita discovers that he works for Vector dismantling cyborgs, a revelation that will test the trust between them.
Grewishka – Her nemesis, a cyborg assassin in Nova's service. Grewishka embodies both the physical threat and the mystery of Alita's past. Every encounter between them is brutal and personal, as he was specifically sent to eliminate her. The rivalry represents the clash between Alita's hidden power and the forces that seek to suppress her.
Vector – He is the corporate villain who controls Motorball and gambling in Iron City. Vector operates as Nova's puppet, manipulating from the shadows. His relationship with Alita is one of pure antagonism: he puts a price on her head and represents the corrupt system she must challenge to forge her own path.

Alita has a distinctive appearance that makes her instantly recognizable within the film's cyberpunk universe. Her most characteristic feature is her enormous eyes, disproportionately large compared to a standard human face. These warm brown eyes give her an expression of wonder, innocence, and an emotional intensity that contrasts sharply with the harshness of the world around her. This design, faithful to the original Gunnm manga, seeks to reflect her childlike spirit and her capacity for awe at a world she is just beginning to discover. Her face is delicate, with fine features and a soft jawline, framed by short brown hair in a tousled, youthful style. For much of the first half of the film, her body is the one Dr. Ido initially gives her: a simple, almost fragile-looking cyborg structure with thin limbs and visible mechanical joints. This body, originally created for his daughter, lends her an air of vulnerability that contrasts with the powerful combat skills she later discovers she possesses. Her most iconic body is the Berserker, which she receives after her original body is destroyed in the fight against Grewishka. This is an advanced combat body from the URM, matte black with gray details, featuring a more aerodynamic, muscular, and lethal design. Unlike her original body, the Berserker grants her a more streamlined and powerful silhouette, with high-tech joints and armor that integrates seamlessly with her structure. Over this body, she wears a dark and functional outfit that includes a leather jacket and black pants, adopting a more warrior-like and streetwise aesthetic. As for her physique, Alita is short and petite, making her appear younger than she actually is (her human brain is over 300 years old). This slight and almost childlike appearance is deceptive, because within that fragile body—and later within the Berserker—resides immense strength and superhuman reflexes.
