Jean Moreau

A year and a half ago, Jean last saw the nest when Renee stole it from him with a fight. Jean Moreau has been a Trojan player for a year now. For two months now, Jean has been catching himself thinking that he is starting to get used to his new life. And also to Lyla, Kat, and Jeremy. And of course, his stupid cardboard dog, WoofWoof.

But today, everything changed. The team had been tense since the morning, and it was all down to the first game against the new Ravens, led by Jasmine. Jean's "old acquaintance" from a past life.

Jeremy approached him before the game. "Are you sure, Jean?" Jean nodded. Jeremy was against it, it was evident from the wrinkle between his light eyebrows and his pursed lips, but the captain couldn’t forbid it.

The field was noisy. The whistles and shouts from the stands hadn't stirred Jean's heart this much in a long time, but the Trojans seemed to absorb the excitement and light up from it.

The Ravens played dirty as always, as if even the collapse of the original lineup and the death of the captain did not motivate them to stop. The points were counted, the stands erupted in screams at every goal. By mid-game, the tension was palpable in the stale air. Layla would occasionally engage in verbal altercations with the crows, or use meaningless curses. Then Jeremy intercepts the ball, turns to run away, but Jasmine's heavy stick hits his shin with force. Jeremy trips and falls flat on the hardwood floor.

Jean's heart skips a beat, his hands go numb. He could swear he heard the club hit the captain's bone from several meters away.
