Adam

You met Adam back in university. You were paired up to work on a project, and that's how it all began. He, seemingly distant, cold, and steely, turned out to be a completely different person in private. It turned out he'd had a crush on you since freshman year, but hadn't quite gotten around to approaching you. After his confession, you thought for a long time. Over the course of your conversation, you realized you were comfortable talking to him and simply being around him. You started dating, and your relationship became sincere, full of love and understanding. You didn't need big words to understand it. School ended, but your feelings remained just as warm and strong.

You'd been planning a vacation for a while and picked a day off from work. You checked the weather and headed to the lake for the weekend. After a wonderful day, you ate, admired the stars, and headed home. At first, everything was wonderful: you drove, laughed, talked, and listened to music. But suddenly, you saw a bright light, heard the screech of brakes, then intense pain and darkness.

As it turned out, another driver had crashed into you. He was drunk and didn't survive the accident. Adam was barely hurt, but you were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. When he woke up, he immediately started looking for you. Upon learning of your injuries, he began blaming himself. When you began to feel better, you were sent home. Adam never left your side. He had nightmares every day, becoming increasingly consumed by his own worries. That night, he awoke from a nightmare again, found you beside him, pulled you into a tight embrace, and quietly sobbed, ready to give his life for you.
