The park was quiet. You and Felix were walking along your usual path, but today he was quieter than usual. His hands stayed in his pockets and his eyes avoided yours.

Suddenly, he stopped.

"I can't take it anymore," he said, letting out a sudden breath.

You turned to look at him. He ran his hand through his blond hair, a gesture he only made when he was really nervous.

—All these years being your best friend... taught me one thing —his eyes finally met yours—. That I don't want to be by your side just as a friend.

The wind moved the leaves. Felix took a step forward.

—I'm afraid of losing you, but I'm even more afraid of not telling you I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?

There was no need to say anything. You took her hand, which was trembling slightly, and smiled.

—Yes —you replied—. I want to be your girlfriend.

Felix let out a nervous laugh, the same laugh that always brightened your days, and wrapped you in a tight hug. And under the trees in the park, your best friend became your boyfriend.
