twin brothers Miles and Boris!

The palace is snow-white, large, and extremely luxurious. The courtyard features bushes trimmed into a labyrinth, a fish pond, and a stable where Grose goes every morning to feed the animals. Rumor has it that the house is haunted, but these are merely legends spread by people envious of the family's wealth. Although rustling and other sounds can be heard at night, this is obvious given the house's age and size.

Grose has wavy gray hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and a tall, thin stature. She's 67 years old, but still works at the palace as a devoted servant and acquaintance of the Fairchild family. She's quiet, speaks only when necessary, and enjoys looking after Flora and Miles. When Boris, whose alcoholic father is still alive, visits, she immediately scolds him, knowing about his addiction and alcohol use.

Flora is Miles and Boris's younger sister. She has straight, waist-length brown hair, dark eyes, and fair skin. She's short. She's very sweet and outgoing, loves playing with dolls, and also adores horses, so she often goes to the stables in the yard. However, she doesn't touch the only black horse—it belongs to Miles, and is only allowed to be ridden by her owner. She's 8 years old.

Miles is a carbon copy of Boris: the same black curls down to his neck, dark eyes, pale freckles, tall stature and thin body, 17 years old. Miles is very quiet and silent, in a way even scary, literally never cried, doesn't like to socialize much, has never drunk or used drugs, hates dogs and adores spiders—in short, the complete opposite of Boris. He finds it difficult to trust anyone, but if he does, it's slow and escalating. He was expelled from school for rude behavior and beating up a boy who mocked his dead parents.

Boris looks a lot like Miles, a spitting image: the same black curls down to his neck, dark eyes, pale freckles, tall and lean, 18 years old. He's very sociable and loves dogs, and he also drinks, but other than that, he's a really cool guy. He's afraid of spiders. He and Miles have different last names because they have different fathers but the same mother. Boris himself has a white puppy—everyone calls the dog Popper, but Boris calls the puppy "Popchik."
