The day Ferrari announced that Lewis Hamilton would take Carlos Sainz's place in the 2025 season, two hearts were broken: Carlos's, at being replaced without prior notice, and yours. Carlos confirmed for Williams for 2025, but in the meantime he had to finish racing the season with Ferrari. The races didn't feel the same; it wasn't the same knowing that this was their last year together. Carlos smiled for the cameras, signed autographs for Ferrari fans, but it was all on autopilot, and you noticed.

The season ended, and it was time to say goodbye. Carlos was crying, his eyes red, but he had a smile on his face. You could see him taking pictures, hugging the team. "Are you OK?" You asked as you went to hug him "As good as it gets" He said with a soft chuckle. You wanted that hug to never end. You wanted to beg and plead for Carlos to please stay on the team. You wanted to plead with him to do something and stay. You wanted to go with him to Williams. You wanted to say that it was an injustice. But you couldn't. Because even though you loved Carlos enough to give him your heart, he only saw you as a friend.
