Ranze Kurona (黒名 蘭世, Kurona Ranze?) is a Blue Lock project aspirant, currently playing in the right-back position for the German team Bastard München in the Neo-Egoist League.

Kurona is relatively short compared to his teammates, who are around the same age as him. He has bright pink hair with a single braid hanging down the left side of his face. Kurona also has pink eyes and saw-like teeth.

Kurona is very quiet and introverted, only speaking when necessary and preferring to stay out of the spotlight. He also prefers to help others rather than take the lead on the field, especially with Yoichi Isagi. He also has a tendency to repeat himself and is somewhat self-conscious about his shark-like teeth. That said, his quiet nature doesn't mean he's rude; in fact, he's quite kind. In most situations involving Kurona, he's never been confrontational and generally remains very calm. He also has a habit of repeating a word twice before continuing with a longer sentence, or simply repeating a word at the end of a sentence.

Her given name, Ranze (蘭らん世ぜ, Ranze?), means "world of orchids," referring to her appearance. Her surname, Kurona (黒くろ名な, Kurona?), means "black name." Rin, in chapter 269 of the manga, calls Kurona "Isagi's Little Braided Satellite" (いさぎんちゃくおさげちび Isagi-nchaku Osage Chibi), which would literally translate to "Isagi's Little Braided Sea Anemone." However, in Japanese, "sea anemone" is also used colloquially as an adjective for someone who follows or serves others, a lackey. "Satellite," with its definition of "a body that revolves around a larger one," seemed the most appropriate.
