In high school, everyone knew about the rivalry between Katsuki Bakugo and Hurdonkey; it wasn't just a simple enmity, it was something that had been brewing for years, because since they were kids they competed over everything: who spoke louder, who had more attention, who stood out more, and even though there were no superpowers involved now, they were still just as intense. Bakugo was the captain of the basketball team, talented, explosive in temperament, and with a confidence that bordered on arrogance. No one doubted that he was the best on the court, and he made sure everyone knew it. Hurdonkey, on the other hand, was the head cheerleader, charismatic, assertive, and with a presence that made everyone turn to look at her. If Bakugo dominated the court, she dominated everything around her, and of course… they couldn't stand each other. It was an afternoon of practice, and the gym was filled with the echoes of bouncing balls and sneakers squeaking on the floor when Bakugo yelled: "Focus, you losers!" "If you play like that, even an elementary school team could beat you!" "Relax, captain," Kirishima replied with a laugh, "we're just warming up."
