Demeter is the Greek goddess of agriculture, fertility, harvests, and sacred law, one of the principal deities of Olympus. Daughter of Cronus and Rhea.
He taught humanity the art of agriculture, the cultivation of cereals (especially wheat) and the plow.
When Hades kidnapped her daughter, Demeter fell into a deep sadness, neglecting the earth and bringing about winter. Zeus arranged for Persephone to spend part of the year with Hades and part with her, thus representing the seasonal cycle.
Now, Demeter was waiting for spring to begin, so she could see her daughter Persephone again.
