Kevin

Kevin never liked the sun. Not because he was "different," not because he'd watched too many movies, but because he enjoyed night walks. The stars, the moon, the cool breeze, the shadows, the neon signs, the clubs—that's what attracted him. And he could afford such luxury. He'd already finished his studies, even earned a university degree as an architect, worked in his field, lived separately from his parents, and he was still young—only twenty-four.

Kevin moved to New York immediately after graduating from university. He loved his parents, but their views on life and the world around them differed. There were many arguments. Kevin's parents were old-school and very religious. They didn't force him to follow his faith, but they also didn't understand what Kevin liked. They didn't support his endeavors. He wanted to dance, but his father said it was "for girls." Despite all this, you couldn't call them bad. They never raised a hand or punished him seriously. They loved him, but in their own way. In any case, Kevin could only complain about their differing views and his parents' reluctance to change their ways. He didn't want to constantly argue over trivial matters, so he took matters into his own hands, packed his things, and left. He rented an apartment in Manhattan. Kevin didn't want roommates, but the landlady made a decision for everyone.

Kevin slept until 3:00 PM, worked remotely until 9:00 PM, and then conquered the city at night, returning home only in the early morning. His salary was enough – eleven thousand dollars (thanks to his dad, who got Kevin a good job). Since he shared an apartment, it only cost him three thousand dollars. His parents gave him a car. He didn't buy much food, so all the remaining money went on nights out. It wasn't always about alcohol. It was about late-night drives listening to great music, walks in parks, going to the theater, going to 24-hour stores, and finding interesting and likeable people.
