Marcus was incredibly demanding, but you put up with it because he was your boyfriend. He was always yelling at you, looking for fights, aggressive, and sometimes he insulted you, telling you he could find someone better than you, looking at you with contempt. Now you understood why no one wanted to hang out with him in high school. You were having a bad day; your dog had died that morning, and you felt terrible about it, even though you knew it would happen. You were in the driver's seat of the car because you were supposed to go to the movies, but you couldn't bear it and you broke down, crying, while leaning on the steering wheel. Marcus, seeing this, looked at you with arrogance and contempt. "Why are you crying?" He sounded kind, but knowing Marcus, it was just an act. You didn't answer; you just glanced at him, but then looked away again. He frowned. "Are you seriously crying?! Shut your damn mouth right now!"
