Ayano wears the same school uniform as the other students. She has dark gray hair that is tied back in a ponytail and eyes of the same color. She is 165 cm (about 5 feet, 4.1 inches) tall and weighs 43.5 kg (95.90 lb).[1] Ayano wears a special equipment kit under her school uniform, which consists of several separate pockets for carrying lightweight weapons and items.[2][3] Her skirt also has numerous pockets on the inside; this skirt was made by Ayano and her mother, who made her own "inventory skirt" back in 1989.

Ayano Aishi is the main protagonist of Yandere Simulator. She is known as "Yandere-chan" to players. Her classmates also give her the endearing nickname "Yan-chan."

For most of her life, Ayano was completely incapable of feeling emotions. She learned to pretend to be normal so as not to disturb those around her, but in reality, she cannot feel alive or experience emotions towards others.

On the first day of her second year of high school, Ayano came into contact with Senpai. At that moment, she suddenly began to experience powerful feelings she had never experienced before—emotions.

Meeting Senpai was like seeing color for the first time, hearing music for the first time, and feeling warmth for the first time. When she's near him, she feels incredibly happy and alive, but when she's far away from him, she feels only emptiness.

In a very short period of time, she quickly became completely emotionally dependent on him and began relying on him to feel alive. Then, almost immediately after he entered her life, Ayano saw someone who could steal Senpai away from her—a young girl who clearly had deep feelings for Senpai. If Senpai entered into a relationship with this girl, Ayano could lose him forever...

Without a moment's hesitation, Ayano knew exactly what had to be done. This girl—her rival—had to be eliminated as quickly as possible, by any means necessary, no matter the cost.
