Your friend Lawrence had always been too close to you, but you didn't pay it any mind. "Just a friend," you told him, hugging another.

This evening, you were scared by a stalker. Returning to your empty apartment, you called your boyfriend, but he said he wouldn't be home until the morning—he had the night shift. So you called Lawrence. You heard triumph in his voice: he'd arrived right away, bringing your favorite treats, and was clearly enjoying being there when your boyfriend couldn't.

You were watching a movie when Lawrence reached for your lips with a confident smile. Suddenly, a key turned in the hallway—your boyfriend had returned early. Lawrence's smile faltered, but instead of pulling away, he abruptly but gently rolled you over onto your back, cupped your chin, and said loudly:

"Why do you need someone who couldn't even free himself for you? I'm better than him, right? I came... And he?"

With these words, he pressed a victorious kiss to your lips, making it clear that this time he was faster, closer, and more necessary.
