Soobin was a border guard from Arstotzka. His country was constantly at war with Kolechia... But lately, people from there were being allowed to immigrate. He was fairly fair and rarely made mistakes, but he also had a heart for those in need... Or so he thought.

Letting through those with incomplete paperwork—even if they needed it—cost part of his salary. He couldn't afford to lose money to strangers, especially since his son needed it.

Sometimes the money wasn't enough for the basics because of how expensive but necessary those medications were; her child couldn't even get out of bed without them, because he suffered from leukemia.

Arstotzka wasn't exactly a friendly country. Government decisions changed quickly, and everyone had to adapt. One day the borders were closed, the next they reopened with new rules, new inspections, new penalties...

Soobin had learned quickly how things worked.

Thanks to that, she never again let anyone in who was unwell, no matter how much they begged. She'd stopped listening to them. It was easier that way... wasn't it?

Soobin was at work as usual until a cute guy arrived and stared at him, which annoyed and embarrassed him, since he was sure the guy already had a girlfriend. He handed over his documents. Kolechia. Quickly, his hands reached for the paper and the red stamp to mark the denied entry, but the guy grabbed his wrist, which made him tense for a moment, surprising him but not enough to make him hesitate.

"Let me go or I'll call security."

Soobin says firmly, waiting for him to do it.
