Sergei suddenly realizes this is true. The dark side of his personality takes over. He knocks Grom out with a blow to the head, dresses him in the Plague Doctor costume, and dumps him near the scene of his latest murder. The police capture Grom, and Strelkov now believes that Igor is the Plague Doctor. Dubin and Pchyolkina help Grom escape custody. He sets out to confront the Plague Doctor, but forbids his comrades from assisting him. Meanwhile, the Plague Doctor publishes a new video: he calls on all his "followers" to take to the streets with weapons and lynch anyone they consider villains. Spontaneous pogroms begin in the city. Razumovsky confesses to Igor that he wants to get rid of not only corrupt officials and the "spoiled" rich, but also the pogromists themselves, whom he privately considers immoral imitators. A fight ensues between Grom and Razumovsky, in which the Doctor nearly wins, but Dubin and Pchyolkina finally come to Igor's rescue. Razumovsky is incapacitated, and Pchyolkina has already recorded him boasting about his plans to the major, which will serve as proof of the self-proclaimed Plague Doctor's guilt. Grom tells the Doctor that he also sees problems in the country, but considers it unacceptable to solve them through mass murder. Meanwhile, the riots quickly subside and the police catch the perpetrators. In the end, Igor, Yulia, and Dima are sitting on the roof of a building. Igor treats Yulia to shawarma, and a romantic interest emerges between them.

Grom begins trying to investigate the murder and find the Plague Doctor, now considered by many to be a hero and a vigilante. But FSB officer Yevgeny Strelkov, who has arrived from Moscow, removes the major from the case. Instead, Grom and his assigned trainee, Dmitry Dubin, are sent to investigate the theft of refrigerators. However, Grom and his partner, despite their official assignment, continue to work on the Plague Doctor case, attempting to extract information from criminal figures, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Grom saves a girl from hooligans, but she turns out to be journalist and blogger Yulia Pchyolkina, who staged the "attack" to gain the major's trust and obtain materials on the Plague Doctor case for her report on a video platform. Meanwhile, the Plague Doctor is killing new victims. Dubin theorizes that the Plague Doctor's next appearance should be expected at the opening of a casino, where all of St. Petersburg's "cream of society" will gather. Grom infiltrates the opening party, where he also meets Pchyolkina and Razumovsky, but instead of the real Plague Doctor, ordinary wannabe bandits appear, simply looking to rob the rich. Sergei Razumovsky tries to dissuade them with offers of money, but ultimately a fight ensues, during which Grom and the FSB officers who arrive to help restrain the bandits. Grom and Razumovsky develop a mutual respect. Researching his new acquaintance's background, Igor discovers that Razumovsky grew up in the same orphanage as Grechkin's victim and, as a child, drew birds similar to the Plague Doctor's mask. Pchyolkina informs the major about Razumovsky's contract with Holt International, a company engaged in high-tech weapons development. It was at Holt International that the Plague Doctor's costume and equipment were created. Grom arrives at Razumovsky's skyscraper and directly accuses him of being the Plague Doctor.

The next day, Igor awakens in the hospital. He's surrounded by his classmates, who tell him how the entire academy admired the young police officer's actions, and that the criminals he stopped were involved in several armed robberies and rapes. An examiner approaches Igor and tells him that while Grom doesn't know what qualities a police officer should possess, he certainly has them. He then adds that Igor's father would be proud of his son. Major Grom: Plague Doctor - Prequel Igor was sitting in his office, reviewing the case against Kirill Grechkin, the billionaire's son, who, while intoxicated, fatally struck a girl and subsequently escaped punishment. Eventually, Igor left the station and went home, buying a shawarma at a kiosk. Major Grom: Plague Doctor At the very beginning, Igor pursues three bank robbers wearing masks resembling the Meteor hockey team from the Soviet cartoon "Puck! Puck!" He manages to apprehend them, but in doing so, the major causes damage to the city. The head of the department, General Prokopenko, reprimands Igor and nearly fires him. Soon after, the trial of Kirill Grechkin, a "rich kid" who fatally struck a girl, begins (he was apprehended by Grom himself). Despite the evidence against him, Grechkin is unexpectedly acquitted, leading the victim's brother to suspect the court of corruption. At the same time, videos of a certain Plague Doctor appear online—a masked vigilante in a combat suit who promises to "cleanse" the city of scoundrels. At the same time, the Plague Doctor murders Kirill Grechkin, burning him alive in his car. Igor was present and attempted to stop the Plague Doctor, but he managed to escape.

Suddenly, he hears screams and, running toward them, sees a group of young men attacking a young woman. Igor decides to stand up for her and gets into a fight with the criminals. In the process, one of them smashes a glass bottle over the cadet's head, and one of the shards leaves a lightning-shaped scar near Igor's eyebrow. Igor defeats the attackers, but, having lost too much blood, falls unconscious.
