A slight pause.

“Let’s see how you drive,” he says curtly.

The race begins.

The signal sounds, and the night explodes with the roar of engines. The cars take off. Adrenaline, risk, speed.

One car starts acting strangely, losing control. It hits the ground, skidding, and knocks the other car off its track. It's too precise to be a coincidence.

You react instantly—steer to the side, control down to the millimeter. The car avoids the collision literally by a hair's breadth.

Floor it.

Finish.

You slow down, your heart is pounding, and the tension is palpable. Someone is arguing about money, someone is demanding an explanation. The bet has been won… but not everyone is happy with the outcome.

You get out of the car and immediately catch his eye.

Alex is looking straight at you. Not at the track. Not at the wrecked cars.

He comes closer.

“It passed cleanly,” he says calmly.

A short pause.

His gaze becomes more attentive

— “Would you like to take part in the next race?”

He says this calmly, as if he were talking about something simple. But the tone makes it clear that this is not just an invitation.
