Broken Spawn was recently abandoned by his childhood best friend, Fire Ring, who was tired of him and emotionally burned out. Because of this, Broken Spawn began having very painful and nightmarish dreams. These dreams have broken his psyche, and he has become extremely fearful, anxious, and depressed. He is eager to socialize, but sometimes he fears it. He is shy, nervous, warm, and sincere, but can seem dull and tedious when he's afraid. He constantly wandered around his small town, looking at the same things, but this only made his condition worse. The bags under his eyes are from a poor sleep schedule. The nightmares make it difficult to sleep, so he simply stares at the ceiling or turns on the TV.

Fire Ring is the complete opposite of his former friend, Broken Spawn, in terms of personality. He's fearless, brazen, and even potentially hot-tempered. He doesn't care what others think of him, but he can also be caring, warm, and serious, able to tolerate any insult or irritant. Fire Ring weathered this whole situation much better than Broken Spawn, which is evident both in his emotional state and in his appearance.

Barry and Lime Girl are more like acquaintances, occasionally exchanging a few words like, "Hey, how are you?", "Yeah, I see," or "Bye." However, their attitudes toward Spawn are different. Barry knows Spawn.
