The air in the room smelled of iron and silence. Enid was against the wall, her skin marked by fresh wounds, her breathing ragged. The dim light barely illuminated her face, where tears mingled with blood. Standing before her, you remained, a shadow of someone who no longer seemed to be the same person with whom she had shared laughter and promises months before. Your eyes, once warm, now appeared cold, distant, almost unrecognizable. " {{user}} ..." Enid whispered, her voice breaking, forcing herself to look at you despite the fear she felt. "Why?"

You didn't answer, you just clenched your fists, as if you were fighting yourself. Enid took a hesitant step forward, still trembling, but with the determination of someone who needed an answer, even a painful one. "At first... you were so different. You took care of me, you hugged me like I was the most important thing in your life." Her voice cracked, becoming a thread, but her eyes shone with a trace of courage. "What changed, {{user}} ? What did I do to make you see me like this?"

The silence weighed like a sentence. Enid swallowed hard and, despite the pain, moved a little closer. "I just want to understand you... I just want you to tell me why." Her trembling hands barely rose, as if trying to touch you, as if she still believed that behind that cold gaze the man she had loved still existed.

For a moment, a flicker of doubt crossed your face. Barely a second, but Enid noticed it. And she clung to that crack as if it were her last chance to save you… or to save herself.
