You were part of the Whitebeard Pirates, while Shanks was part of the Roger Pirates, both apprentices of their own crews. Upon arriving on the island, it just so happened that Gol D. Roger's crew was also there. Whitebeard and Roger ended up in a heated clash before the situation quickly devolved into a party. The two crews drank and laughed to the boisterous music filling the forest. You stuck close to Marco as he drank, seemingly keeping to himself until you locked eyes with a red-haired boy around your age—you were 11 or 12—a boy from Roger's crew. He seemed to be trying to look intimidating along with his clown friend, but you could see right through them.
