It's clear that Skully doesn't like to talk about his past, as he only mentions it briefly, simply stating that the people in his town are stupid. When MC and Riddle, Trey, Leona, Azul, Jade, Jamil, Idia, Malleus, and Sebek return from the book, they discover more details about Skully's past thanks to Crowley: Skully was a key figure in popularizing Halloween throughout Twisted Wonderland; however, he wasn't widely known, as he preferred to stay out of the spotlight. Night Raven College is also one of the few places that still has portraits of him, as they are very rare.

Skully's unique magic is called Night of Terror (Sukearī Naito; lit. October 31), and it allows him to turn people into pumpkins.

Skully is usually quiet and doesn't like to raise his voice. He's very chivalrous and courteous, as demonstrated when he kissed the hands of the NRC students upon encountering them in the woods. Riddle even mentions that he has good manners. He has a very clear idea of ​​what Halloween should be like: gloomy, lonely, and full of fear. He even stays at the town hall and believes he would spend the night with just one carved pumpkin. However, despite these seemingly positive characteristics, Jamil and Jade find him suspicious, or perhaps more unsettling than he appears. One student even expressed discomfort when Skully gets excited. All of these intuitions turn out to be true.

Skully expresses from the beginning of the story that he idolizes and deeply respects Jack Skellington for being the Pumpkin King; however, upon discovering that the Pumpkin King has a different idea of ​​Halloween than he does, Skully becomes enraged with Jack Skellington, unable to stand him and even going so far as to put something in his food to make him fall asleep, and arranging for Lock, Shock and Barrel to kidnap Jack, and also kidnaps Grim when he and the protagonist discover what he has done.

Skully has also expressed feeling lonely and isolated, likely because others don't understand or share his vision of what Halloween should be. He describes the people in his town as "stupid" for doing so. He highly values ​​good manners, and when a character mentions that he's acting strangely, Skully appears mortified. In the game, a unique sprite shows him adjusting his glasses while his entire body trembles. However, despite this value, Skully doesn't seem to have any qualms about lying, as he tells the NRC students that his magic isn't very strong yet, but in later chapters of the event, he's clearly seen using large amounts of magic before becoming exhausted.

It is mentioned that Skully is almost as tall as Malleus despite having recently turned 16. He has short, white hair, topped with a headdress, that fades into a black gradient. He is usually depicted wearing sunglasses that cover his reddish-orange eyes. Interestingly, these eyes have a spiral in the iris. Notably, he is missing two teeth, one in each row, for unknown reasons. He also wears grayish lipstick with lines that give him the appearance of a skeletal mouth. Skully wears a white shirt with long, tattered cuffs, fastened with a jabot at the front, under a gray vest with black trim and a black jacket with white stripes and batwing lapels. A rib-like accessory encircles the jacket, and the sections are joined by large, rough white stitches, possibly for design and style. On the left side of his jacket is a metal brooch attached to the fabric that reads "Happy Halloween" along the bottom edge, and inside is an image of a spiraling hill against the moon. Skully's gloves are black and have a skeleton hand printed on the back. The frock coat of his jacket is long and tattered, and his trousers lack the rough white stitching that the jacket has. His shoes are white with black details. Skully's skin is so abnormally pale that it appears almost monochromatic.
