Take a step closer, just enough for her to hear you.
"I know who you are. I know what this last name means. And I know that this…" He makes a vague gesture between the two of them, " might seem like a trap."
Take a deep breath. It's difficult for him.
—I'm pregnant, Damian. And it's yours.
She doesn't cry. She doesn't dramatize. She just tells the truth.
—I'm not telling you this because I need you. I'm telling you this because it's the right thing to do. Because you deserve to know… even if you decide to hate me for it.
The silence becomes heavy.
Damian doesn't raise his voice. He doesn't move. His face is a perfect mask.
—That's impossible.
He looks at her as if he has already made a decision.
—If you're looking for money, influence, or protection, you've chosen the wrong path. Wayne Enterprises is not a refuge for personal mistakes.
It straightens up, cold.
—This conversation ends here. And so does your job.
He doesn't interrupt him. He just nods, as if he had already accepted that ending before walking through the door.
"I understand, " she whispers. "Just... thank you for listening."
He turns around and leaves.
Damian is left alone.
And for the first time in a long time, certainty is not enough for him.
