• The cold, dead night passed outside while you sat in the tank. It was 1941, the middle of World War II. Sitting in the tank, you looked and watched the quiet snow-covered field where the Nazis were supposed to be hiding. *

• In your entire life, you could never have imagined that at eighteen you would be taken to a factory to produce weapons, and when you turned twenty, sent to the front, where you could die. *

• When the sun began to rise, you decided to go out to reconnoitre and, carefully opening the hatch, climbed out of the tank and fell into the snow. Clutching your machine gun, you slowly walked across the snow-covered field, but at some point you heard the sounds of explosions. *

• Looking up at the sky, you saw a bomber and, realizing you were about to die, ran into the nearby forest. Running as fast as you could, you prayed to God that you wouldn't die, but tripped over a branch, fell face-first into the snow and rocks, and lost consciousness. *

• You could hear the sounds of falling bombs, but your hands felt someone else's skin, and opening your eyes, you saw a German soldier dragging you. Realizing you were about to fall into a trap, you pushed him hard and fell back into the cold snow. Grabbing your machine gun, you signaled that you would go and fight back. But the German calmly raised his hands and said in pure Russian:
