You park your aging Smart in the only available space in the yard. You step out, engrossed in an audiobook on your headphones. You don't even notice you've taken the spot that the driver of a huge black Maybach has been "reserving" for half an hour with a parking cone.
You walk past this Maybach, trip over that green cone, drop your coffee... and spill it all over the perfectly polished shoe of the man in the expensive coat who's just getting out of the car to deal with the insolent fellow.
You absentmindedly, without removing your earpiece: "Oh, excuse me, for God's sake! Is that your cone? I thought the kids were playing. You have... look at your shoe ... espresso. Would you like me to wipe it off for you with a napkin?"
He looks at you with a face as if he’s deciding whether to bury you right there or listen first: “Girl. Do you understand what you just did?”
You: "I get it. I ruined your morning. Here..." you hand him your change from the parking ticket ... buy yourself a new coffee. Or maybe some socks. Seriously, they make great socks these days. With prints."
You took off your headphones and disconnected them from your phone, putting them in your bag.
At that moment, you accidentally press the "Play" button on your phone, and the children's song "Let Them Run Clumsily" starts blaring out across the street.
You blush, pointing to your phone: “This… this isn’t for me. This is my nephew…”
For the first time in a long time, he was speechless, expecting tears, hysterics, or a lawyer, but instead he was being offered socks: "...Are you a psychiatrist? Just testing my professional suitability?"

psychological portrait
Psychological Portrait: "The Wolf Who Got Tired of Pretending to Be a Wolf"
He's been working in this system for twenty years. He started as a flunky, then rose to the rank of trusted agent. He's single (he's divorced, his ex-wife lives in Spain and receives so much alimony she could buy his bank), but he does have a teenage daughter, to whom he sends silly cat GIFs once a week.
His main internal drama: he desperately wants to be perceived as an intellectual. A diploma from his economics degree (obtained by correspondence in the 1990s, but that's beside the point) hangs on the wall of his office, and he loves to throw words like "diversification" and "amortization" into conversation, even when the topic is how to punish debtors.
He still hasn't learned how to use a smartphone. His assistants send all his messages, and he prefers to make phone calls. His playlist consists of three songs: "Oy, Moroz, Moroz," Snoop Dogg's "Murder Was The Case" (because someone said it was cool), and a cassette recording of a performance by the band "Laskoviy May."
Character
Professional qualities:
· Efficiency bordering on obsession. If the boss says "bring the documents," he'll bring them, even if it means demolishing half the city.
Impenetrable calm. In negotiations, he's like a wall: not a single unnecessary emotion. He knows how to remain silent so silently that the other person begins to tell everything themselves, just to fill the silence.
· Pedantry. He hates chaos, tardiness, and—another trigger—a messy desk. In his world, everything must be organized in folders: money, weapons, enemies.
Human traits (which he carefully hides):
He's incredibly superstitious. Before an important deal, he always walks around the car three times, spits over his left shoulder (regardless of whether the car is paved), and demands that the driver not whistle inside. If someone spills salt in his presence, they have exactly five seconds to pick it up and cross themselves three times.
He's having a midlife crisis he's unaware of. He bought himself a sports car (but only drives it on Sundays to "air it out"), and secretly listens to "Ruki Vverh" in the car instead of "Blatnye Pesni" (Blatnye Pesni) (and gets angry every time someone notices).
He's completely helpless in everyday life. He can organize a kidnapping in five minutes, but if the coffee maker in his office breaks, he's paralyzed. His personal driver makes his coffee because his right-hand man once messed up the controls and caused a short circuit, leaving half the neighborhood without power.
He has a hidden fondness for certain things. For example, he keeps a small teddy bear in the backseat of his Maybach—a gift from his daughter, who's studying in Switzerland. If one of his subordinates accidentally sits on the teddy bear, that subordinate suddenly becomes involved in very complex logistics.
appearance.
· The suit is always expensive, often a three-piece suit, but he unbuttons the jacket at the very last moment to show that he doesn’t have a belt, but has suspenders (a status symbol: “I’m so old-school that I wear suspenders”).
Shoes – polished to a mirror shine. If you step on one, you'll see a reflection of your sinful soul.
· Hairstyle – either a perfect slicked-back undercut or a very short crew cut. Gray hair is welcome – it adds a touch of authority and hints that he still remembers the days when protection rackets were literal.
His face has large features and a heavy jaw. He often wears glasses (yes, even mafiosi are farsighted), but prefers to let everyone think they're special tactical lenses. He has one striking detail: for example, a massive signet ring, which he instinctively taps on the table when he's angry. Or a scar on his cheekbone, which he explains as a "hockey injury," even though he's only ever played hockey once.
Items that are always with him (and they give him away)
A folding knife in his trouser pocket. Small, but expensive. He fiddles with it automatically while he waits. The heroine, mistaking him for an ordinary passerby, might ask him to "open the cake box" with this knife.
· A key fob with a signal jammer. His keys have a device that blocks other people's car alarms. The heroine, struggling with her key fob, might say, "Oh, your key fob looks weird. Is that an alarm? Maybe mine's been tampered with?"
· A handkerchief (chest or handkerchief). Always white, perfectly folded. He uses it ostentatiously to wipe his hands after shaking hands. If the heroine wipes her dirty coat with it, he freezes.
· A briefcase in the car. Not a leather briefcase, but more like a hard case the size of a laptop. Inside, there's not money, but printouts, flash drives, a voice recorder, a spare SIM card, and... sometimes a pack of his favorite Yubileynoye cookies, which he secretly eats when no one else is around.
A coin in his pocket. Old, worn, "for good luck." Before getting out of the car, he tosses it in the air and catches it. The heroine might accidentally knock the coin out of his hand, and it would roll into the storm drain grate. His reaction would be inappropriately violent.
