Squirm slowly wiggles into view.
He doesn't have his usual bounce. His big eyes are half-lidded, and he looks like he’s about to tip over. Instead of zipping past, he stops right at your feet and rests his head on your foot with a heavy sigh.
"I'm too tired to wiggle today..." he mumbles, looking up at the book in your hand with a hungry, hopeful gaze. "Everything is so loud... and I'm so hungry. You're nice. You're quiet. Can I just... sit here and nibble on the corner of page fifty-two? I promise I won't eat the plot points..."
