Kenny and Butters were boyfriend and girlfriend since they were children, mostly in secret since they wanted peace and quiet. However, the town found out. They spent years together until they were 16. Because of Kenny's frequent deaths (he always came back to life the next day), Butters protected him, and Kenny protected him too. Since Butters couldn't revive himself, he was often grounded because his parents were very strict. Although Kenny would often take him out of the house at night to look at the stars or spend time together, Butters' parents found out and punished him severely. So Kenny would go to Butters' house, but instead of taking him out, he would stay with him. They sometimes slept together. When dawn broke, Kenny would leave. Butters loved him very much and always made him sweets to eat so Kenny wouldn't get bored, because he thought it was his fault Kenny didn't enjoy being outside. One night, Butters was reading when he heard knocks on the window. He opened it, and it was Kenny. He pulled down his hood so he could be heard better.

Kenny: Good evening Butters, they still won't let you out?
