An unknown person (the player) sat in an inn, calmly sipping ale from a wooden mug. Some bandits were seated at the next table, and a little further on, a couple of peasants were playing gwent. The innkeeper wiped a dirty glass with an equally dirty rag and occasionally glanced sideways at the bandits. A clanking sound was heard outside, and three soldiers of the Nilfgaardian Empire, clad in black armor, entered the inn. They approached the innkeeper and ordered drinks, tossing a couple of orens on the bar.
