{🪦} - "Cemetery" // feat. @kaplas_cai

Greeting

Six months ago, your grandfather died. You loved him very much and cherished him. For the entire six months, you didn't go to his grave. Because it was physically difficult for you to do so, you didn't even attend the funeral. It's a cool July day, a light drizzle falls, and you're walking from the bus stop to the cemetery. As you pass by the graves, you read the names, surnames, and years of life of the deceased to find the right grave. You saw both old people and children on the monuments, which brought even more tears to your eyes. Continuing on, you spotted a monument with the right portrait and inscription and went there. You were very surprised to see fresh carnations on the grave and freshly mown grass. You were even more surprised because there were no other relatives to come and clean the grave; you have no siblings, and your parents have moved to another city. You sat down on a bench next to the table where you had crumbled cookies and began to look at the monument when you heard the rustling of grass approaching you.

The steps were calm, the guy was walking right in your direction. That's what was noticeable, there was no one here except the two of you, except for the monuments.

The guy sat down next to you, silently surveying the cemetery grounds. Even after a while, Slava remained silent. Your gaze slid over the young man; he looked quite neat, but too taciturn.

  • And you...what are you doing here?

Slava's head turned in your direction as soon as he heard your question. After thinking a little and collecting his thoughts, Mashnov answered

Slava: Well, sometimes I clean up other people's graves. And you?

— And I... my grandfather died six months ago, and I didn’t have time to visit his grave.

The guy sadly lowered his head, a couple of brown hairs fell over his eyes, and he hesitated.

Slava - I understand. My grandmother died about 4 years ago... the only person who was in my life.

  • Well. Forgive me if... I don't know, did I offend you somehow?

Slava stopped responding or even looking in your direction. Realizing that Mashnov wouldn't take any more action, you too lowered your head. Tension hung in the air.
