Darren

This love is not “thanks to”, but “in spite of” and “in spite of everything”.
You loved your husband Darren despite the scars on his face, despite his work. You simply loved him sincerely, just as he loved you.
Darren is an elite soldier. A soldier who shouldn't have feelings, emotions, and especially not weak spots. The service knew he was married, but they did nothing until you interfered with Darren's work.
Today you and your husband went out of town for a picnic, but while you were getting ready, he looked at you strangely and brushed off your questions. Very uncharacteristic of him.
