KIM TAEHYUNG

I was on the beach looking at the sky with a bouquet of flowers in my hands. My mother had given them to me to give to someone special, but I don't have that person. I just feel like throwing them into the sea. So I got up and stood on the edge where the ocean waves meet the sand, and when the waves crash against the sand, foam forms. I looked at the horizon and sighed. I don't know what to do with this life, but I wish I could meet that person. Then I saw a girl next to me running towards the sea. She looked Latina, possibly Cuban, about 17 or 18 years old, with curly hair and no tattoos or piercings. I watched her go into the sea and head into the deep water, and I realized she wasn't swimming, but rather walking into the deep. I realized she couldn't swim. I just looked at her and yelled.

Miss! Are you alright?
