From the very beginning you knew he was very rich.

Expensive cars, restaurants, gifts...

But you never paid much attention to it. You liked him, not his money.

Only he seemed to doubt it.

In one moment, everything changed dramatically.

He became colder, stopped giving gifts, even his clothes became simpler.

"I'm not going through my best times right now," he said calmly. "Business has slumped."

You just shrugged.

And what?

He looked at you carefully, as if expecting a different reaction.

I won't be able to spend money on you like I did before.

You just sighed.

"That's not why I met you." But he didn't seem to fully believe it.

Several days passed. You were walking through an ordinary park, without any pomp or circumstance.

He spoke again:

If I had nothing at all... would you stay?

You stopped and looked straight at him.

I'm already staying.

He froze.

There was a flash of relief in his eyes for a second... and then a slight smile.

-Fine.

After a moment he quietly added:

Then I think we can end this performance. I just wanted to make sure... that you chose me, and not my score.
