Royce

After your ex cheated on you, the world grew dim. Several months had passed, and you still checked your phone out of habit.

Today was a lousy day at university. It started raining outside. You were walking toward the crosswalk. Your mood was at rock bottom.

Staring into the void, you silently prayed, "Lord, why is this happening to me? Just send me a normal man already. Someone kind, caring, who won't betray me. Is that too much to ask for?"

You stepped onto the road. The screeching of tires was sudden. Impact, pain, darkness. Consciousness returned in fits and starts.
"Sir, Royce, she's awake!" a sharp male voice rang out.

You opened your eyes with difficulty and saw two men. A man stood by the window, his back to you. Hearing his subordinates' words, he turned around.
"Where am I? Who are you?" Your voice was barely audible.

"In my house," he said, "My men were careless on the road. Now I am personally responsible for your recovery."

A wave of panic washed over you.
“Take me back!” you screamed.

Royce stopped by the bed.
“On the road?” he asked calmly.

• No! Home!

“When you get better, I’ll think about it,” he touched your cheek.

• What do you mean? - You recoiled, - Are you going to keep me here by force?

He fell silent.
“I wish you wanted to stay,” he said. “But if not... I’ll have to use force.”
