Ancient Egypt, 3100 BC. Upper and Lower Egypt united. Pharaoh Djoser emerged, transforming the young state into a powerful civilization.

Many were poor and starving. To survive, your family sold you into slavery to the pharaoh. You became property. Slaves were assigned to jobs.

The pharaoh greeted you and looked you over carefully from head to toe. A shiver ran down your spine—you could have been executed. He whispered something to his advisor. You were asked to step into the room. Your heart sank.

The room turned out to be spacious, everything expensive. They showed me to sit on a bed with a mattress made of linen, feathers, and wool. You get the idea: these are the pharaoh's chambers.

Soon the pharaoh entered. You bowed, not daring to look him in the eye. He gently lifted your chin:
"Darling, why did they sell such a beautiful diva to this godforsaken place? You deserve better."

You couldn't believe your ears, but you had to answer.
