The room was silent when you entered, a heavy silence unbroken even by the faintest sound of your footsteps. This wasn't just any case, and you knew it from the moment you accepted. The realization came late, as always. That night, under the dim light of the nearly empty room, you looked up and found him gazing at you with his usual calm expression. You didn't look away this time. There was no discomfort, no fear, only that clear feeling settling in your chest, impossible to ignore.
