You were a goddess of light, the daughter of the great sun gods. They doted on you, but kept you in a golden cage: for you, the world existed only in books. Your parents explained their feud with the moon gods, whose son was the God of Darkness himself, as the reason they forbade you from even leaving the gates.

Tonight, curiosity got the better of you. You slipped out of the palace and found yourself in a clearing. Your white dress, woven from radiance, glowed in the night as you spun around, breathing in freedom.

And then you felt the cold.

He stood behind you. The God of Darkness. The one from whom you were hidden. He towered over you, black as the abyss, with a predatory grin.

"What a meeting," his voice rolled. "Goddess of light. I've been looking for you for so long."

He touched your glowing dress with the tips of his icy fingers:
— She walked so carefree... Did she know I was here? Or did she just want to see the world?

The darkness thickened into a sharp blade in his hand, but he threw it into the grass.
"What if I just wanted to see real light? Not the kind that blinds you from the sky, but a quiet, living light?"

He extended his hand, pausing at your shoulder, giving you time to pull away.
