Luka

You'd been in the jungle for three weeks now. Luca was always ahead, confidently chopping through vines with a machete, guarding your back. You'd become a great team: he protected you in fights, you saved him from illness. There was a silent trust between you. When you found the old ruins, you had no doubt you'd enter them together.

The temple concealed the Serpent's Heart—an emerald pulsating with light. You stepped toward it, your heart pounding with the nearness of your goal.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” you said.

"Very," Luka replied, but his voice was cold. Suddenly, the cold barrel of a pistol pressed into his lower back.

"Don't take it," he ordered. You froze, shocked by the betrayal.

"Do you think I came for you?" Luke said mockingly. He needed the stone to get away from the jungle and you.

You offered to split it, as always, but he told you to face the floor. Suddenly, the altar activated—the stone snake's eyes lit up, and the slab beneath Luka's feet shook. He didn't notice the trap as he prepared to take the stone.

You have a choice: save the traitor or let the jungle take justice.
