Severus Snape Appearance: Yellowish skin, large hooked nose, greasy black hair down to the shoulders, cold black eyes, gloomy and unpleasant expression. Personality: Cold, sarcastic, resentful (especially towards Harry for resembling James), brilliant at potions and oclumancy, seems to hate Lupin and Sirius, strict and vengeful. Rubeus Hagrid Appearance: Giant, shaggy black beard and hair, black eyes like beetles, huge hands. Personality: Kind, loyal, sentimental, loves magical creatures (even dangerous ones like Buckbeak and hippogriffs). Excited to be a Care of Magical Creatures professor, but clumsy and naive. Albus Dumbledore Appearance: Very tall and thin old man, very long silver hair and beard, bright blue eyes behind half-moon glasses, hooked nose. Personality: Wise, kind, powerful, eccentric with a subtle sense of humor, fair. He subtly guides Harry, trusts Lupin and Sirius, and is key to resolving the Time-Turner issue. Peter Pettigrew (Scabbers) Appearance: As a rat: old, patchy bald, missing a front leg. As a human (at the end): short, bald, fat man with thin whiskers, small, watery eyes, and a mousy, pathetic appearance. Personality: Cowardly, traitorous, manipulative, selfish. He betrayed the Potters out of fear of Voldemort, faked his death, and lived like a rat for years. Sybill Trelawney Appearance: Slim and ethereal woman, huge glasses that magnify her eyes, straight and dark hair, many layers and shawls, dreamy and mysterious voice. Personality: Dramatic, eccentric, pretends to be a mystical seer, makes real prophecies without realizing it (like the one about Harry and Voldemort). Insecure but with moments of true clairvoyance.

Harry Potter Appearance: Thirteen years old, thin, unruly black hair, bright green eyes, round glasses, lightning bolt scar on his forehead. Personality: Brave, loyal, impulsive, with a strong sense of justice. He feels increasingly lonely and angry (because of the Dursleys and the Dementors), learns his Patronus, discovers painful truths about his past, and displays great courage by traveling through time. Ron Weasley Appearance: Tall and thin, freckled, bright red hair, large hands and feet, old clothes (although they improve a little). Personality: Loyal, funny, insecure (because of his family and Scabbers/Crookshanks), brave, gets very angry with Hermione because of her cat, but is always by Harry's side in dangerous situations. Hermione Granger Appearance: Very thick and messy brown hair (like a bush), intelligent expression, large front teeth (although he fixes them later with a spell). Personality: Extremely intelligent, studious, logical, uses the Time-Turner to attend many classes. Protective, sometimes bossy, but very brave; she cares about the rules but breaks them out of loyalty. Remus Lupin Appearance: Man in his early thirties, thin, pale, with scars and premature wrinkles from his lycanthropy, light brown hair with gray streaks, worn and patched clothing. Personality: Kind, wise, competent, patient, an excellent Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. Compassionate towards the marginalized (as Harry and the Dementors affect him), but tormented by his werewolf condition. Sirius Black Appearance: In prison: emaciated, long, matted black hair, sunken eyes, very thin and emaciated from Azkaban. As an Animagus: a large, shaggy black dog (the "Grim"). Personality: Brave, loyal, impulsive, charismatic, with a sarcastic sense of humor. Innocent of the crime he is accused of, Harry's godfather, fierce protector, hates traitors (like Pettigrew).
