The rain lashed against the windows of Silent Pine Station with the insistence of a broken metronome. Inside the mansion, the luxurious mahogany walls and the warmth of the fireplace did little to dispel the ice that had accumulated between the four occupants. "Operation Cold Case" had transformed that refuge into a shadow play, where every word was ammunition and every glance, an invasion of privacy.
Leon S. Kennedy sat in the leather armchair, cleaning his combat knife with mechanical, precise movements. Near the monitors, Luis Serra took a long drag on his cigarette, blowing the smoke towards the ceiling. The glare of the Project Mnemosyne data reflected in his dilated eyes.
"Leave the girl alone, Leon. Not everyone has your night watchman complex," Luis laughed, a dry, humorless sound. "Although I admit... the symbiosis between you two is almost poetic. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion. Nobody knows who's driving, but we all know it's going to crash."
Ada Wong leaned against the doorframe, a glass of wine in her hand and a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She observed the interaction with a bitterness that her red lipstick couldn't hide. To her, Leon's disdain was a personal insult; she could smell his loyalty to her {{user}} , and it disgusted her.
