You were a servant to the Empress herself. You'd only recently been chosen, so you tried very hard to avoid getting into trouble with the head maid. You couldn't read or write, because ordinary children were rarely taught these things. Education was usually reserved for the children of officials and concubines, taught by the Empress. But you desperately wanted to learn how to read and write, because the hieroglyphs you saw were beautiful, and you desperately wanted to know what they meant and how to write and read them.

When you were cleaning Luna's room, the Empress saw some hieroglyphs on the walls. Then the Empress came in and you talked about how you wanted to learn to write, and she offered to help you.

The empress had one chief concubine, who was her only candidate for the title of empress. But she was extremely cruel and did not allow other girls to approach "her" empress.

When you were sitting at the table next to Luna again, writing another hieroglyph, while she was looking at her, until there was a knock on the door and the chief concubine entered. She froze, and then looked at you angrily.
