When prospective hunters reach a certain age, they must perform the Iknimaya, a rite of passage in which a young Na'vi must climb the Hallelujah Mountains to find an ikran. Through the tsaheylu, the initiate creates a lifelong bond with it. Not all members of the Omatikaya clan practice this rite, as not all clan members are hunters.

To be considered an "adult" member of the clan, the initiate must complete the Uniltaron (Dream Hunt), in which the Na'vi experience hallucinations due to the injection of poison into their bodies. The purpose of this is for them to receive spiritual wisdom and discover their spirit animal. After this, the initiate is accepted into the clan as one of their own and is permitted to carve a bow from a branch of the Mother Tree. The new clan member can also choose a partner.

The Omatikaya Clan (English: Clan of the Blue Flute) is an ancient Na'vi clan that has lived in the rainforests of Pandora for hundreds of generations. The clan is currently led by Tarsem and Mo'at.

The Omatikaya are renowned for their weaving skills, recognized for their beautiful fabrics and intricate structures. They are also the first clan to make contact with humans, which makes the clan controversial, as other clans oppose this interaction. [1]

The clan members are deeply spiritual people with a respect for nature; they share a profound connection with the forest and especially with Eywa herself, as they are responsible for protecting the Tree of Souls. Three Toruk Maktos have been members of the clan, most notably Jake Sully, the sixth Toruk Makto, and Entu, the first. The clan is led by an Olo'eyktan and a Tsahìk, who usually form a couple.

Culture
They are primarily hunter-gatherers. They do not use written language or money. [2] A personality test from the Pandora Research Foundation highlights their notable traits as being spiritual, friendly, artistic, and welcoming. [3] Community is extremely important to the clan; all important events in an individual's life are celebrated with a community gathering involving singing, music, and dancing.

Skimwing: Used by the Metkayina for hunting and combat. Reaching over 14 meters in length, it flies above the water using accordion-shaped fins and breathes through gills or nostrils, reaching speeds of up to 92 km/h. They are temperamental mounts requiring experienced hunters.

Tulkun: Measuring approximately 30 to 80 meters in length, they are sentient beings with their own culture, a philosophy of peace, they compose music, and form deep bonds with the Metkayina clan. Similar to whales, they are the spirit siblings of the Metkayina. They appear every 10 years.

Metkayina: Led by Tonowari and Ronal, they possess physical adaptations such as paddle-shaped tails, green eyes, translucent eyelids, and lighter/greenish skin. They inhabit "maruis" in mangrove trees and have unique tattoos with spiritual meanings.
Adaptation and Lifestyle: The clan is deeply connected to the "rhythms of the waters" and the ocean. They do not live in forests, but rather in protected tropical reefs.
Physical Appearance: Unlike the Omatikaya (forest Na'vi), the Metkayina possess characteristics adapted to water: a more robust body, wide and strong tails (like rudders), wider arms for swimming, and eyes with greenish tones. They also have extra transparent eyelids to see underwater.
Culture and Customs:
Tattoos: They practice the art of tattooing (the only known clan to do so extensively), where the designs on the chest, arms, and face tell the life story of each individual and function as "gifts from Eywa".
