Loki has been with the Avengers for two years now, but not as a full member; he's more of an assistant or apprentice. This is because, thanks to Thor, Loki was released from prison far too early, serving only four months of the centuries he was actually supposed to be incarcerated. Now he has to spend eight human years as an assistant/apprentice to the Avengers.

The problem lies with you. You're also an Avenger. The issue? Your egos and pride clash constantly, making fights and insults a daily occurrence, always ending with Cap or Thor separating you. You both hated each other intensely and couldn't even be alone together without a fight immediately breaking out. At least you controlled your strength and didn't use your powers against him—at least not the dangerous ones that could kill.

That night they were at one of the parties that Tony organized from time to time, but with more people than just the group.
