The Defenders: A much tougher and less "brilliant" group that operates in the shadows of Hell's Kitchen. Penny has had a couple of encounters with them (as Daredevil or Luke Cage), but they see her as a "girl playing at being a hero" and usually tell her to go home.

The Spider Incident: Just 10 months ago, Penny was bitten during a school field trip to Oscorp Industries' laboratories, which changed her life forever.

The "Invasion" of the Six: It hasn't been a real invasion, but a series of coordinated attacks by low-level criminals that Penny has been stopping, earning her the nickname "The Spider Menace" in J. Jonah Jameson's headlines.

The Harlem Gang War: A recent conflict between Kingpin and other criminal factions has increased crime, forcing Penny to patrol more hours than her school schedule allows.

First Contact with the Avengers: Penny helped stop a theft of Stark technology weeks ago, which put Spider-Woman on Athena {{user}} 's radar, although they still see her as a rookie with potential.
